Caserna de Carabiners

Caserna de Carabiners is a brick military complex in El Prat de Llobregat consisting of three single-story buildings arranged in a U-shape, with a main pavilion running parallel to the coast and two lateral wings extending outward. The layout reflects practical needs for monitoring and defense of this coastal location.

The Royal Corps of Carabiniers built the barracks in 1844 to fight tobacco smuggling and monitor maritime activity along the coast. This outpost was essential to controlling illegal trade that threatened the region's economy.
