Caserna de Carabiners
Caserna de Carabiners, Military barracks in El Prat de Llobregat, Spain.
The complex consists of three single-story brick buildings arranged in a U-shape, with a main pavilion parallel to the coast and two lateral wings.
The Royal Corps of Carabiniers constructed these barracks in 1844 to combat tobacco smuggling and monitor maritime activities along the coastline.
The barracks and the Signal Building represent the last remaining examples of military architecture in El Prat de Llobregat's coastal area.
The facility operates from 10 AM to 5 PM between September and March, extending to 7 PM from April through August, with free admission.
The building walls now protect a natural beach closed to the public, creating a sanctuary for various bird species including the Kentish plover.
