The Església de Santa Maria features a basilica layout with three naves, a transept, and a polygonal apse constructed primarily with brick materials.
The current church, built in 1940, replaced a previous 18th-century structure that was dismantled during the Spanish Civil War from 1936 to 1939.
The church maintains centralized archives from all Cornellà parishes, preserving historical documents and records for the local religious community.
Regular religious services take place on Sundays and holidays at 10:00, 12:00, and 20:00, with additional weekday masses scheduled at 20:00.
Archaeological excavations revealed foundations of a 7th-century Visigothic hermitage beneath the current town hall, indicating the area's extended religious heritage.
