Torre de les Aigües, Water tower and garden in Dreta de l'Eixample, Barcelona, Spain
Torre de les Aigües is a six-story water tower with decorative brick moldings and rounded arch windows throughout its facade. A surrounding garden with a shallow pool provides a gathering space around the structure.
Built in 1870 by architect Josep Oriol Mestres and engineer Antoni Darder, the tower supplied water to early residential buildings in Eixample. It emerged during Barcelona's major urban transformation in the 1800s.
The tower reflects how industry and design merged during Barcelona's growth period. Visitors can observe how the brick and arches blend practical need with artistic intention.
The site is located at Roger de Llúria 56 and operates from 10 AM to 9 PM during summer and 10 AM to 7 PM in winter. The grounds are easily walkable with seating available throughout the garden areas.
The shallow pool in the garden becomes an informal cooling spot on hot days where residents and visitors seek relief. This small green space still functions as a temperature refuge for the densely built neighborhood.
