Alloz reservoir

The Alloz reservoir is a water storage body located between the valleys of Yerri and Guesálaz in Navarra, gathering water from local rivers. The lake stretches across the landscape and is surrounded by hills and forested areas.

The dam was built in the 1930s to create a water system for irrigation and power generation in the Estella region. This infrastructure permanently changed how water was managed for the surrounding communities.

The sailing school on the water offers courses each year where people learn water skills and maritime traditions. These activities connect the community to the lake and keep regional nautical knowledge alive.

Marked hiking paths run around the water body and connect to viewpoints and nearby villages. Wear appropriate footwear and check weather conditions before heading out on the trails.

The water contains higher salt levels, which creates special conditions for water sports. These chemical properties also support a variety of bird species in and around the area.
