Viaduto de Pontevedra, Redondela

The Viaduto de Pontevedra is a metal railway bridge that crosses over the Alvedosa River in Redondela. The structure was designed to carry train traffic across the riverbed below.

Engineer Mariano Carderera y Ponzan completed construction of this railway bridge in 1884 as part of the connection line between Vigo and A Coruna. The structure served as an important link in regional rail networks for over a century.

The viaduct marks a passage point for pilgrims traveling the Portuguese Route of the Way of St. James. Many walkers recognize this structure as a meaningful waypoint during their spiritual journey.

The viaduct can be viewed from ground level, offering different vantage points to observe the railway structure. Visitors should note that direct access to the bridge itself is limited, and the structure is best appreciated from nearby viewpoints along the riverbank.
