Santuario de Santo André de Teixido, Catholic pilgrimage church in Santo André de Teixido, Cedeira, Spain
The Sanctuary stands on a cliff at 140 meters above sea level, with views of the Atlantic Ocean in northern Galicia.
The first documented record of pilgrimages to the sanctuary dates from 1391, although religious practices at this location existed since the Iron Age.
According to regional belief, those who do not visit the sanctuary during their lifetime must complete the pilgrimage after death in animal form.
The main pilgrimage celebration occurs on September 8th, while a smaller religious ceremony takes place on November 30th each year.
Visitors follow the tradition of drinking or touching their lips to water from three separate spouts at the Saint's Fountain near the sanctuary.
