The Balneari de Cardó sits in the Cardó Massif near the Sallent ravine, featuring thirteen scattered hermitages and conventual structures throughout its grounds.
The site began as a religious retreat in 1606 under Carmelite monk Fra Pau de Crist before transforming into a thermal spa facility in 1866.
The thermal complex represents the evolution of Catalonian wellness practices, with its buildings combining elements of eclectic architecture and Noucentisme styles.
The thermal baths facility remains closed since 1967, but visitors can explore the exterior structures and surrounding hiking trails in the Cardó Massif.
During the Spanish Civil War, the thermal complex served as a medical facility for the Republican Army during the Battle of the Ebro.
