Can Rigalt, Baroque manor house in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Spain.
Can Rigalt is a baroque manor house in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat featuring symmetrical facades and curved architectural elements typical of Catalan design. The main entrance is decorated with a prominent coat of arms, and the structure retains visible details from different periods despite its age.
The house was rebuilt in 1741 by Miquel Ricalt, though it incorporated elements from an earlier medieval structure that previously occupied the site. The transformation to baroque style took place during this rebuilding period while maintaining foundations from the older settlement.
The coat of arms displayed above the entrance represents the family's importance in the local area and is why the building received protected status. This symbol remains visible to anyone passing by and reflects the social standing of those who once lived here.
The building is currently closed to visitors as it undergoes renovation, but its exterior architecture and decorative details are clearly visible from the surrounding streets. The best view of the facades and coat of arms can be obtained by walking around the property.
FC Barcelona purchased the property in 1997 intending to convert it into a training facility, but local regulations prevented the project from moving forward. The property could have become an important part of the club's infrastructure had the plans succeeded.
