Valencia Airport, International airport in Manises, Spain
Valencia Airport is an international airport in Manises, 8 kilometers (5 miles) west of Valencia city center. The building contains a single terminal with three separate check-in areas and multiple gates connected through central corridors.
The airport began operations in March 1933 when aviation in Spain was still in its early stages. Decades of gradual expansion transformed the original facility into the tenth largest Spanish airport by passenger numbers.
Signs throughout the terminal appear in both Catalan and Castilian, reflecting the linguistic duality of the region. Cafeterias in the departure area serve horchata and paella during midday hours when Spanish travelers wait for their flights.
Metro trains run from early morning to late evening between the terminal and the city, with the connection taking around 20 minutes. Arrival halls sit on the ground floor while departure terminals are one level up, clearly marked by signage.
Though the facility maintains connections to 20 European countries, most passengers during summer months arrive from the United Kingdom. Flights to Amsterdam, Rome-Fiumicino, and Paris-Orly rank among the most frequent routes throughout the year.
