Villa Giacomina

Villa Giacomina is a 19th-century building in Villajoyosa with a square plan that encloses a central courtyard and water storage area. The structure displays solid masonry with details mixing eastern and western building styles, while the exterior is marked by rows of windows and fortification-like elements.

The building was constructed in the second half of the 19th century and reflected the region's prosperity of that era. During the Spanish Civil War, military occupation caused damage that led to its gradual neglect.

The building shows a blend of design influences that shaped Mediterranean architecture across centuries, visible in how rooms and decorative details are arranged. This mixture reflects the cultural layers of the region and remains evident in what visitors see when walking through the grounds.

The grounds are freely accessible during daylight hours and visitors can walk around the exterior areas freely, though the building interior remains closed. Wear sturdy shoes since the terrain is uneven and exploration happens mainly outdoors.

Next to the villa stands a separate tower called Malladeta, which served as a private study and library for a notable psychiatrist of the 19th century. This tower is its own structure with separate architectural importance and remains an intriguing side element of the complex.
