Parador de Turisme de Vic-Sau, building in les Masies de Roda (Osona, Catalonia)
The Parador de Turisme de Vic-Sau is a hotel at the foot of the Casserres peninsula, overlooking the Sau reservoir. The stone building with large windows and rounded arches resembles a Catalan farmhouse and sits at about 560 meters elevation in a protected natural area.
The hotel opened in 1972 following a design by architect José Osuna and follows the style of traditional Catalan farmhouses. In September 1978, Catalan politicians met here for a crucial gathering about the region's statute, known as the meeting of the Vint group.
The name reflects the nearby Sau reservoir and the village of Les Masies de Roda. The building is designed after traditional Catalan farmhouses and helps define the character of this rural region.
The location is easily accessible by walking paths with views of the lake and opportunities for birdwatching. The hotel has a restaurant serving local dishes and provides spaces for relaxing or working quietly.
A stone sculpture by artist Josep Ricart Maymir outside the hotel commemorates the historic 1978 gathering and was officially unveiled in 1982 by Jordi Pujol, then leader of Catalonia. The monument makes this spot a symbol of an important moment in the region's political history.
