Playa Eldorado, Sandy beach in Cambrils, Spain
Playa Eldorado is a sandy beach in Cambrils, on the Costa Daurada in Catalonia, Spain. It has fine sand, shallow water close to the shore, and facilities such as showers, changing rooms, and sunbed rentals along the seafront.
Cambrils was a fishing port for centuries, and this stretch of coast was part of the daily life of the harbour community. As tourism developed along the Catalan coast during the 20th century, the beaches were gradually shaped to welcome visitors.
The name draws from the legendary city of gold, reflecting hopes of happiness and discovery that visitors bring to this seaside spot. People gather here and experience the sense of finding something precious in a simple beach day.
The beach is well signed and reachable by flat paths, with access points designed for people with mobility needs. In summer, lifeguards are on duty, and arriving in the morning helps avoid the busiest hours of the day.
The name Eldorado, borrowed from the legend of a golden city, gives a rather ordinary town beach an unexpected ring to it. Just behind the sand, a row of casual bars and small restaurants serves locals as much as visitors, which is not always the case along this coast.
