Platja de la Vall, Mediterranean beach in El Port de la Selva, Spain.
Platja de la Vall is a beach in El Port de la Selva along the Catalan Costa Brava with coarse sandy areas stretching about 200 meters. The cove features a narrow shoreline that alternates between pebbles and sand and appears sheltered from heavy waves.
The land beside the beach was once covered with vineyards before being adapted for visitors in recent decades. You can still see traces of this change when you compare the area with the surrounding protected nature zone.
The beach sits below the ancient monastery of Sant Pere de Rodes, which overlooks the hillside and has shaped the area for centuries. This proximity to such an old structure gives the place a distinct character that visitors feel while swimming.
Parking is available at the Perabeua urbanization, from where it is about a 50-meter walk to reach the beach. The access is straightforward and the cove offers good conditions for a relaxed visit on most days.
The beach received a five-star rating from the Generalitat in 2000 and was recognized as one of the region's top bathing destinations. This award acknowledged the special conditions that visitors continue to enjoy today.
