Arrigorri

Arrigorri is a golden sand beach in Ondarroa spanning roughly 180 meters between steep cliffs. The sand slopes gently into the Cantabrian Sea and extends about 120 meters across.

This beach became integral to Ondarroa's maritime identity when the fishing port was established in the 15th century. The connection between the beach and the harbor has shaped community life for generations since then.

Local fishermen work on their boats in the eastern part of the beach near the harbor entrance, maintaining a daily connection to the sea. This practice ties the beach directly to Ondarroa's identity as a working fishing community.

The beach offers showers, restrooms, and rental services for umbrellas and loungers during summer months. Lifeguards monitor the area when swimmers are present to ensure safety.

The beach sits where the Artibai River meets the sea, creating specific wave patterns that occur nowhere else nearby. This natural feature draws local surfers who seek out these particular conditions.
