Pont de Can Peixauet

The Pont de Can Peixauet is a cable-stayed bridge spanning the Besós River and connecting two neighboring districts. The structure uses steel cables and prestressed concrete to cross a distance of about 138 meters with a width of 35 meters.

This cable-stayed bridge was completed in 1992 as part of infrastructure development in the Barcelona region. Architects Juan José Arenas de Pablo and Marcos Pantaleón designed an innovative structure to connect the two banks of the Besós.

The bridge serves as a vital connection point between Santa Coloma de Gramenet and Barcelona, representing the evolution of modern architecture in the region.

The bridge is accessible to vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists with dedicated paths for each type of traffic. Visitors can walk across the structure and observe the river and surrounding landscape from different vantage points.

The structure employs an asymmetric design with a single cable plane along its central axis, an unusual solution for managing movement in multiple directions. This approach was a technically noteworthy achievement in Catalan bridge engineering at the time of its construction.
