Caserna de Sabadell, Military barracks in El Taulí, Sabadell, Spain.
Caserna de Sabadell is a military complex in El Taulí, consisting of multiple building blocks arranged around a central courtyard. The layout follows the traditional design of a barracks facility with distinct structures meant for different functions.
The complex was designed by architect Juli Batllevell in 1911 and completed in 1913 with its official opening. After its initial role as a barracks, it later became a training academy before the military departed in 1998.
The grounds today house various community uses and locally-run organizations that residents have brought to the site since it became available.
The site is easy to reach on foot and the grounds can be explored as there are no visitor restrictions to the inner areas. Plan time to walk through the various building sections and the central courtyard, which forms the heart of the complex.
After the military complex lay empty in 2017, local residents took over the site and launched community projects. Since then the grounds have functioned as a gathering point for locals with various social and sports activities.
