Antiguo Economato Militar, Art Nouveau military supply building in Melilla, Spain
The Antiguo Economato Militar features ornate floral designs, decorative circular elements, and vertical lines that define its theatrical facade with balustrades.
Built in 1907 with an eclectic style, the building underwent renovations in 1914 under architect Enrique Nieto, transforming it into an Art Nouveau masterpiece.
The building represents a fusion of military functionality and architectural innovation, receiving the designation of Cultural Heritage Site within Melilla's Historic District.
Located on Avenida Juan Carlos I Rey, the two-story structure maintains its original stone masonry walls and solid brick construction with iron beams.
The central balcony projects in a semicircular shape, flanked by columns and topped with a distinctive frieze and protruding cornice.
