The Ampuero Palace stands on Atxekolandeta Street atop the Arriluce promontory, featuring stone masonry construction with neo-Gothic decorative elements throughout its structure.
Manuel María Smith designed this residence in 1928 for businessman and politician José Joaquín Ampuero y del Río, during a period of industrial growth in Biscay.
The palace represents the architectural preferences of Biscayan high society at the turn of the century, incorporating regional neo-mountain style with personal interpretations.
In 1999, the palace underwent renovation works that transformed the structure into separate residential units and included the addition of underground parking facilities.
The palace occupies a strategic position overlooking the Bay of Abra, with its medieval appearance and topographical placement creating a distinctive silhouette against the landscape.
