Santuario de Nuestra Señora de los Remedios

The Santuario de Nuestra Señora de los Remedios is a sanctuary located roughly two kilometers from Olvera, featuring whitewashed walls and ornamental tilework reflecting Andalusian design. The building sits on elevated ground and combines traditional architectural elements with its religious function.

The sanctuary was built in the 18th century, replacing an older hermitage from the 16th century that also held an altar to the Virgin. This succession reflects continuous religious devotion at the site across multiple generations.

The sanctuary is dedicated to veneration of the Virgin of Los Remedios, whose image has drawn devoted followers for centuries. This religious focus shapes how locals and pilgrims connect with the hilltop site.

The site sits outside the town on a hilltop and is reachable by foot or by car. The best time to visit is early morning or early afternoon when the light is favorable and crowds are lighter.

For over 300 years, an annual pilgrimage has taken place here on the Monday following Easter, demonstrating the site's deep roots in local traditions. This long-standing yearly practice makes it a significant event for people across the region.
