The Ermita de Nuestra Señora de la Oliva stands as a religious structure with clean geometric lines and symmetrical design elements on a hilltop location.
Built in 1780 on the foundations of a Visigothic basilica from 678, the site incorporates materials from an ancient Roman villa and features a preserved Roman pedestal.
The church houses a Baroque altarpiece from 1773 and displays a sculpture of the Virgin of the Olive created by Martín Alonso de Mesa in 1596.
Located 5 kilometers from Vejer de la Frontera center, the hermitage remains an active religious site open to visitors throughout the year.
The structure contains a pre-Christian funerary inscription and a commemorative text marking the consecration of the original Visigothic basilica in 678.
