Pazo do Picón

Pazo do Picón is a U-shaped granite mansion with slate-covered walls located near O Pedrouzo in Arca. The structure features solid stone construction with a prominent tower decorated with the family coat of arms.

Built to order in 1699, this Baroque structure was created as a residence for Galician nobility. The building exemplifies the manor house architecture that emerged during this period in northwestern Spain.

The coat of arms carved into the tower displays four sections that reflect Galician noble architectural traditions. This heraldic design tells visitors something about how such properties functioned as symbols of family status and local authority.

This is private property, so visitors need to arrange access in advance with the owners. Its location along a section of the Camino de Santiago makes it accessible to pilgrims and walkers passing through the area.

The property features a French-inspired boxwood garden that represents an early example of this type of formal landscape design in Galicia. The geometric layout of the beds reflects baroque garden influences from across Europe.
