Lordship of Torre de Leoz, Medieval lordship in Bardenas Reales, Spain.
The Lordship of Torre de Leoz is a medieval estate located between Fustiñana and the Tauste Canal in the Bardenas Reales. The land contains agricultural fields and natural terrain where almonds and vegetables have been grown for centuries using established irrigation methods.
In 1447, Charles, Prince of Viana, established this lordship and granted it to his advisor Pedro de Veraiz as a reward for service. Over subsequent centuries, the estate changed hands and adopted new names under different families.
The property reflects changing ownership through its shifting names across generations. Local people in the area connect each historical name with specific families and periods of stewardship.
The site sits in a flat to gently rolling landscape with clear views across the surrounding terrain. Plan your visit during good weather to walk comfortably through the fields and toward the elevated viewpoint.
The property includes Peña del Sol, an elevated point that offers wide views across the Ebro River and the farming lands below. From this vantage point, visitors can see far beyond the boundaries of the Bardenas toward the river valley.
