The Escurial Zoo and Flower Park

The Escurial Zoo and Flower Park is a combination of animal enclosures and flower gardens in Siikajoki housing about 400 animals, including pigs, horses, donkeys, llamas, alpacas, reindeer, and various bird species. The facility merges animal areas with large garden sections where plants are grown and sold and visitors can grill outdoors.

The facility was established in 1987 in Tyrnävä and relocated to Siikajoki in 1995, where it continues today. The move to the new location allowed for expansion and the development of the current animal and flower garden concept.

The park functions as a place where visitors observe animals and discover why protecting wildlife matters. The combination of animal areas and flower gardens creates a setting that appeals to families seeking both education and nature enjoyment.

The park is easy to walk through since animal areas and flower gardens are laid out in an accessible way. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes as there is plenty to explore along the paths and between different garden sections.

The park lets visitors observe less commonly seen farm animals like llamas and alpacas up close in open enclosures. These creatures come from regions with very different climates, making for a surprising look at how diverse animal life can be.
