Hatanpää Arboretum, Botanical garden and arboretum in Tampere, Finland
The Hatanpää Arboretum spreads across three parks on the Hatanpää Peninsula, showcasing a diverse collection of trees, shrubs, and flowering plants along the shore of Lake Pyhäjärvi. The grounds feature well-maintained pathways that wind through different plant zones and clearly marked sections.
The arboretum was created in the 1970s on the site of the former Hatanpää Manor, transforming the historic estate into a public botanical space. This conversion preserved the park-like structure of the land while combining heritage conservation with botanical purposes.
The garden functions as a place where people learn about Finnish plant life through labeled specimens and seasonal botanical programs.
Visitors can walk through the various sections or take buses 11, 13, or 15 to the Hatanpää Hospital stop for access. Two summer cafés on the grounds offer refreshments, and the pathways are open for visits throughout the year.
A dedicated rose garden section contains numerous rose varieties that stretch from the former manor building across the old park area. This specialized display represents plantings developed over many decades.
