Backas Manor

Backas Manor is an estate in Pakkala featuring multiple buildings that showcase different periods of Finnish agricultural architecture. The structures stand along a historic route and display how farming facilities were designed and constructed across several centuries.

The estate traces its roots to Finland's rural development but was transformed during the 1900s into a cooperative farm operated by Elanto. This shift allowed it to supply agricultural products to the Helsinki Metropolitan Area.

The grounds reflect how rural estates were managed and inhabited over generations in this region. Visitors can observe the relationship between traditional country life and the working facilities that operate here today.

The grounds are open for exploration and feature an on-site restaurant that uses local ingredients in its dishes. Comfortable clothing is recommended since the space invites visitors to walk around.

The grounds are undergoing a major transformation that will introduce an experiential park with an indoor Moomin facility. This planned overhaul blends Finland's cultural identity with contemporary recreation.
