Aviation Museum, Aviation history museum in Vantaa, Finland
The Aviation Museum in Vantaa is a facility dedicated to aviation history, with around 80 aircraft of different types on display. The vehicles range from fighter jets and passenger planes to vintage gliders, spanning different eras of flight.
The collection was founded in 1969 and initially housed in the basement of Helsinki Airport. In 1981 it moved to its present location in Vantaa, giving it more space and better access to the public.
The museum displays aircraft that show Finland's role in aviation development. The collection tells the story from early experiments to modern planes, all made visible for visitors to experience.
The museum is located close to Helsinki Airport and is easily reached by car or public transportation. On-site flight simulators are available for hands-on experience, and there is a large hall for group visits or events.
The museum houses Finland's largest aviation library, with technical documents and materials spread across roughly 1,800 shelf meters. This extensive collection documents details and development stories that remain invisible in the aircraft themselves.
