Kristuskyrkan, Methodist church in Etu-Töölö, Finland.
Kristuskyrkan is a red brick church reaching 59 meters high and combining Nordic Classicism with Gothic Revival elements in its design. The building accommodates about 420 people during services and community events.
Architect Atte Willberg designed this place of worship, which opened in 1928 for the Swedish-speaking Methodist community. The building came about when the congregation needed its own church in the expanding city.
The interior features a fresco by Carl August Henry Ericsson showing twelve doves around an angel, representing the apostles around the tree of life. This religious imagery shapes the experience of stepping into the prayer space.
The church sits at the intersection of Fänrik Ståls Street and Apollonkatu and is easy to reach by public transport. Access is possible outside of services, and visitors should wear appropriate clothing to respect the worship space.
The rose window above the main entrance was created by artist Lennart Rafael Segerstråle and depicts the theme of praise to creation with David and his harp. This intricate window is one of those details many visitors overlook, though it shows skilled artistic work.
