Mommila, Railway village in Hausjärvi, Finland.
Mommila is a railway village in Hausjärvi that developed around its station on the commuter line connecting Riihimäki and Lahti. The station sits at approximately 94 meters elevation, positioned between the stops of Oitti and Lappila.
The station opened in 1905 as a halt near the village of Torhola, initiating the settlement's growth. By the 1960s, the surrounding residential area had expanded to house over 200 residents.
The Mommila station building, designed by architect Thure Hellström in the 1920s, reflects the architectural style of Finnish railway infrastructure.
The station is served by the commuter rail line G running between Riihimäki and Lahti, offering connections across the region. An overpass built in 2004 replaced the former level crossing, improving access for passengers.
In 1977 a head-on collision between an express train and a freight train occurred here, leaving a lasting mark on the community. This serious accident prompted significant changes in how the station operated going forward.
