Ylivieska Church

Ylivieska Church is a modern stone building with rustic brick walls and expansive windows that flood the interior with natural light. The sanctuary combines wooden elements with the raw structure, creating a simple and functional space.

The original wooden church was built in 1786, but fire destroyed it, leaving the site vacant for many years. The current building was completed in 2021 as a modern replacement, with a cross marking the memory of what came before.

The location is generally open during daytime hours, with parking available and electric car charging stations on the grounds. Visitors should note that access may be limited during services or special events.

The bell tower is constructed from Corten steel, a material that naturally changes color over time through a weathering process. Visitors can observe how the metal gradually transforms from metallic gray to dark brown as it ages.
