Haapavesi Church

Haapavesi Church is a Lutheran place of worship with contemporary architecture and clean lines located in Haapavesi, Finland. The building combines sanctuary space with a congregation center and associated facilities all under one roof.

A fire destroyed the earlier church building in May 1981, prompting the construction of this new one. The current structure was formally opened in Advent 1984 and has served the community since then.

Inside, you can see a large crystal artwork called Light is a Gift from Heaven, created to mark the 150th anniversary of Haapavesi congregation. This piece shapes how the interior feels and draws your attention when you enter.

The building sits at Tähtelänkuja 5 and hosts regular worship services throughout the year. You can also find administrative offices on-site for inquiries about the congregation and its activities.

The church grounds hold several war memorials, including one marking a German aircraft crash from April 1942. These monuments serve as reminders of events that touched the local area.
