Kauttua Bruk Park, Industrial heritage site in Eura, Finland.
Kauttua Bruk Park is a riverside industrial complex with preserved factory buildings, worker housing, and structures spanning multiple production eras. The grounds contain the Terassitalo building, a 1938 structure designed for community use by the residents.
The site began as an iron production facility over 330 years ago and later transformed into a paper manufacturing center during Finland's rapid industrial growth. This shift from metals to pulp defined the community's long-term development.
The riverside grounds tell the story of how workers and their families lived together in this industrial settlement. Walking through reveals spaces where people gathered, worked, and built a tight-knit community around the factories.
The grounds are open for self-guided exploration or organized tours that cover different sections of the site. Wear comfortable shoes since the paths cross uneven historic terrain and older building areas.
A notable feature is the original sauna and laundry building designed by Alvar Aalto that still operates today. It remains one of the few such structures in Finland that functions as it did when workers used it daily.
