Pontrieux, River port commune in Côtes-d'Armor, France
Located at the Trieux River estuary, Pontrieux features more than 50 traditional washhouses along its waterways and timber-framed buildings throughout its streets.
Until the 19th century, Pontrieux served as the primary river crossing point before Guingamp, establishing itself as a strategic commercial port for regional trade.
The town celebrates its heritage every August 15th with the Festival of Washhouses, featuring Breton music, dances, and parades along the riverside.
The marina accommodates 173 boats, including 15 visitor spots, while the train station provides regular connections through the TER regional network.
The tidal phenomenon can be observed 15 kilometers inland from the sea, creating a dynamic water landscape that changes throughout the day.
