Somme American Cemetery and Memorial

The Somme American Cemetery spans 14.3 acres and features orderly rows of white marble headstones marking the graves of 1,844 American military personnel.

The cemetery, established in October 1918, contains the remains of American soldiers who fought alongside British forces during World War I operations near Cantigny.

The memorial chapel includes a bronze door with an American eagle sculpture and contains wall inscriptions of 333 missing soldiers' names with identifying rosettes.

Located half a mile southwest of Bony village, the cemetery welcomes visitors daily from 9 AM to 5 PM, except December 25 and January 1.

The central flagpole stands at the summit of a gentle slope, dividing the cemetery into four distinct plots through intersecting pathways.
