Schlossberg

Schlossberg is a mountain summit in eastern France with its main peak reaching 456 meters above sea level. The terrain features multiple elevations with hiking trails at various levels, allowing visitors to explore different vantage points across the landscape.

From the 11th century onward, the mountain served as a strategic defense position hosting multiple fortified structures. This medieval use shaped the region and left lasting marks on the terrain.

The name comes from German words meaning Castle Mountain, reflecting the historical presence of fortifications in the region. Visitors can still sense this past in how the landscape is shaped today.

Multiple trails circle the mountain at different elevations with several entry points for visitors to access. The terrain is walkable throughout the year, though conditions will vary depending on the season.

The western edge of the mountain features distinctive geological formations marking the transition zone toward the Upper Rhine Graben. These geological features provide visitors with insights into the regional tectonic structure.
