Castel of Montjeu, Medieval castle in Broye, France
The castle stands within a 700-hectare forest estate, featuring square pavilions at each corner and extending over an expansive natural landscape with ponds.
Construction of the castle began in the early 17th century, and despite experiencing three major fires throughout its existence, it maintains its original structure.
The gardens surrounding the castle were crafted by André Le Nôtre, the principal gardener of King Louis XIV who also designed the gardens of Versailles.
The castle remains a private residence and does not allow interior visits, though visitors can observe its exterior architecture from the surrounding areas.
A ten-kilometer wall encircles the estate, making it one of the largest enclosed castle properties in the Burgundy region of France.
