Barrière d’Enfer, buildings in Paris
Barrière d'Enfer was a neoclassical tollbooth that once stood at the edge of Montparnasse in Paris. The structure has been demolished and no longer exists physically in the city today.
The tollbooth was part of Paris's historic boundary system and served as one of the city's entry points during the 18th and 19th centuries. It was eventually removed as the city expanded and such control points became obsolete.
The building no longer stands, so visitors can only explore the location through historical references and old city maps. The site is located in Montparnasse and can be found by walking the streets and researching its historical boundaries.
