Nancy Air Base, airport in France
Nancy Air Base is a military airfield in the Meurthe-et-Moselle region, southwest of Toul. The facility has a long concrete runway and multiple hangars where modern fighter jets of the Mirage 2000D type are stationed.
The airfield was established in 1915 during World War I and served as a base for French and British combat aircraft. After German occupation in 1940, Allied forces regained control in 1944 and used the facility for operations with P-47 Thunderbolt fighters.
The base is located about 30 kilometers southwest of Nancy and is surrounded by open fields. Visitors can observe regular aircraft takeoffs and landings from nearby ground areas and watch the movement of military vehicles.
The base features distinctive hardstands arranged in a daisy configuration, with multiple aircraft parked in circular patterns around large central hangars. This layout enables rapid deployment capability and provides extra protection for the aircraft.
