The Aquarium du Limousin spans 1000 square meters and contains more than 380 aquatic species in 40 tanks filled with 205,000 liters of water.
The facility occupies an underground water reservoir constructed during Napoleon III's reign to prevent cholera epidemics in the city of Limoges.
Since its opening in 1993, the aquarium has evolved into the only rescue center for abandoned aquatic animals in Central France.
The aquarium opens Wednesday through Sunday from 10:30 AM to 6:00 PM, with the ticket office closing at 5:30 PM.
Visitors can observe electric fish, piranhas, stingrays, and caiman species in specialized exhibits throughout the facility.
