Basilica of Notre-Dame de Marceille

The Basilica of Notre-Dame de Marceille is a Gothic structure featuring pointed arches and a single nave divided into five sections. The building sits along Route de Saint Hilaire displaying the Southern Gothic style typical of the region.

Construction started in the early 14th century when the prioress's revenues were assigned to support the College of Narbonne in Paris. This financial backing allowed the Gothic structure to be built gradually over several decades.

A black Virgin statue from the 11th century inside attracts pilgrims who view it as sacred and central to their devotion. This veneration shapes how the place feels to visitors today and connects them to centuries of local prayer.
