Castle of Boutavent, Medieval castle ruins in Iffendic, France.

The castle remains stand on a natural rocky outcrop, encompassing two courtyards separated by a deep ditch across two hectares of land.

Built in the 11th century, the fortress belonged to the Lords of Montfort during the 13th and 14th centuries before its decline in the 16th century.

The site contains archaeological materials including slates, ceramics, ground pavement, and glazed tiles discovered during consolidation efforts since 2006.

The ruins, managed by Montfort Communauté, have been accessible to visitors since 2005 with regular maintenance work ongoing to preserve the structure.

Four separate buildings, potentially used as guesthouses, flank both sides of the castle's barnyard, revealing its original architectural layout.
