Château de Chailvet, Renaissance castle in Royaucourt-et-Chailvet, France.
The castle features Renaissance-style arcades with a superposed gallery, flanked by two square towers containing spiral staircases with circular turret domes.
The construction started in the 16th century under the Lords of La Vieuville, and the castle suffered extensive damage during both World Wars.
The rectangular dovecote, encircled by late 16th-century moldings, stands as one of the oldest examples in the Laonnois region of France.
The castle opens its outdoor spaces to visitors during heritage days, following three decades of meticulous restoration work completed in 2010.
The facade presents the only example of Italian-inspired Renaissance architecture found in the former Picardy region, located 130 kilometers north of Paris.
