History
François Mansart began constructing the castle in 1666, but after his death his nephew Jules Hardouin-Mansart completed the architectural project. This collaboration between two major builders shaped the building's final form.

The estate was originally designed with formal gardens that reflect French garden traditions of its time. Visitors can still recognize the structure of these historical gardens today, even though the grounds are not freely accessible.
Practical
The castle now serves as headquarters for a Republican Security Company, which significantly limits access to the grounds and interior. It is advisable to check in advance about any possible tours or public events.
