Le Golf National, Championship golf course in Guyancourt, France
Le Golf National is a championship golf facility in Guyancourt, a town southwest of Paris, designed with technical challenges that test players at every level. The Albatros course covers rolling terrain with more than fifty water features and sand traps positioned to reward precision and strategy.
The site opened between 1988 and 1990 following designs by American architect Robert von Hagge, intended to give France a venue for international tournaments. Since its opening, the facility has hosted the French Open regularly and became the setting for the 2018 Ryder Cup between Europe and the United States.
Le Golf National strengthened France's position in international golf by hosting the 2018 Ryder Cup, where European and American teams competed in front of 80,000 spectators.
The grounds include the Albatros course plus two additional layouts, including a shorter nine-hole option for beginners or practice rounds. Visitors will find practice areas with a driving range and putting green, along with a clubhouse offering changing rooms and a restaurant.
The 2024 Olympics will bring golf competitions to this site, making it one of the few courses in Europe to have hosted both the Ryder Cup and Olympic events. The strategic use of water and sand on nearly every hole demands constant tactical adjustment and turns each round into its own experience.
