Fosse Arenberg

Fosse Arenberg is a former coal mining complex in Wallers featuring multiple pit heads, with the third shaft rising about 60 meters and displaying industrial engineering methods. The site includes several buildings with machine rooms, administrative offices, and underground galleries that illustrate different aspects of mining operations.

The mining operation was founded around 1900 by the Anzin Mining Company and extracted coal for more than a century. Activity ceased in 1989 after the pit had been one of the region's major workplaces.
