Lac des Eaux Bleues, Natural lake in Vaulx-en-Velin, France

Lac des Eaux Bleues is a natural lake in Vaulx-en-Velin set within the Grand Parc de Miribel-Jonage, bordered by marked hiking trails and bicycle paths. The water is clean and the shoreline is lined with grassy areas and scattered trees that provide shade.

The lake was created in the mid-twentieth century as part of a regional development plan to provide recreation areas near Lyon. Over time, the park expanded and became an important leisure destination for the surrounding region.

The lake draws people from the surrounding area who come to relax and enjoy outdoor activities together. You will notice locals walking, jogging, and gathering by the water at different times of the year.

The site is easily accessible by public transport from Lyon and has parking areas and equipped picnic zones. Plan to visit during daylight hours when the paths are clear and the area is most active.

The lake has a bird watching station where visitors can observe multiple bird species in their natural habitat through specialized viewing platforms. These quiet observation areas are perfect for spotting migratory and resident species, which are often most active at dawn or dusk.
