Lac du Crescent, Artificial lake in Marigny-l'Église, France
The Lac du Crescent extends across 165 hectares at an altitude of 300 meters, surrounded by dense forests of the Morvan Regional Nature Park.
Engineers constructed the Crescent dam between 1930 and 1933, transforming the natural valley into a substantial water reservoir for the region.
Local fishing traditions at Lac du Crescent focus on catching large specimens of pike and pike-perch, which can reach lengths exceeding one meter.
The 11-kilometer hiking circuit 'Queue du Lac du Crescent' begins at the church square in Marigny-l'Église and circles the entire water body.
The lake receives water from three different rivers - the Cure, Chalaux, and Crescent - storing up to 14,250,000 cubic meters of water.
