International Museum of Naive Art, Art museum in Vicq, France
The International Museum of Naive Art is an art museum housed in an 18th-century farm building in the village of Vicq, in the Yvelines region of France. The collection brings together paintings in oil, watercolor, and gouache, as well as sculptures made from wood, glass, and fabric, all created by artists from dozens of countries.
The museum was founded in the early 1970s by Max Fourny and his wife Françoise Adnet, who traveled widely to find artists working outside the main art centers. Over time, the original farm building was extended to accommodate a growing collection gathered from around the world.
The museum is open on selected days during the afternoon, so checking current hours before visiting is a good idea. It sits in the middle of Vicq village, surrounded by countryside, making it easy to combine with a short walk around the area.
The museum closes for a short period in summer to let the team prepare new exhibitions for the rest of the year. Alongside the galleries, it also runs outdoor film nights and art workshops that draw visitors from the surrounding villages.
