Musée Jules-Desbois, Art museum in Noyant-Villages, France
The Musée Jules-Desbois in Noyant-Villages displays around one hundred sculptures and decorative objects spread across seven exhibition rooms. The works span from figurative pieces to ornamental creations by the French artist.
The artist was born in 1851 in Parçay-les-Pins and studied at the École des Beaux-Arts. In 1884 he worked alongside Auguste Rodin at the Trocadéro workshop.
The collection displays sculptures showing human forms and mythological subjects, created in tin, bronze, silver, and ceramic. These materials were chosen to serve both decorative and artistic purposes in the works on view.
The museum is open Wednesday through Sunday in the afternoon and welcomes visitors in small groups at a comfortable pace. The rooms are accessible from ground level and easy to navigate.
Several works were inspired by Alda Moreno, a dancer at the Opera Comique whose movements influenced how the artist captured human motion in his sculptures. This personal connection to a performer is visible in the grace of many pieces.
