Le Petit Donon, Mountain summit in Northern Vosges, France

The Petit Donon reaches an elevation of 1009 meters and features hiking trails through dense forests and sandstone rock formations.

During World War I, the summit served as a strategic observation point where German soldiers constructed bunkers and defensive trenches.

The sandstone walls of Petit Donon display over twenty inscriptions carved by a stonemason to commemorate his fallen comrades.

Hiking routes begin at the Col du Donon parking area at 702 meters elevation, with a total trail distance of 15 kilometers.

The sources of both the White Sarre and Red Sarre rivers emerge from the slopes of Petit Donon, marking their respective origins.
