Le phare d'Alistro, Stone lighthouse in San-Giuliano, France

Le phare d'Alistro is a lighthouse featuring an octagonal stone tower attached to a brick building that once housed the keepers. The structure sits on elevated ground and combines the distinctive tower with attached residential quarters in brick and stone.

The lighthouse was built in 1864 as a maritime aid with a first-order fixed white light and underwent electrical modernization in 1964. Wartime damage to the dome occurred during German military operations in 1943, with repairs completed in 1945.

The structure represents French maritime protection along Corsica's eastern shore and shows how coastal communities managed shipping safety. You can see how the architecture fits into the local landscape when you visit.

The site sits on raised ground at some distance from the coast and can be accessed from the San-Giuliano area. This elevated position provides clear views across the waters and surrounding landscape.

The lighthouse dome bears traces of wartime conflict and reconstruction, serving as a visible reminder of events during the Second World War. Visitors walking around the structure can observe these marks from military action and the repairs that followed.
